Run 5km

I ran tonight, after training (which we finished with a fairly intense strength session). It felt nice (after a while)...it was a perfect night. Full moon, clear black skies, dark, and a great coolish breeze. Today was the warmest day in a while, around 22*, so it wasn't even freezing at night. Running at 8pm reminded me of old times, when I started running, and why I developed a love for it.

I ran my hilly 5km loop (slightly short of 5.0). Considering the first run of this distance in ages, and I was sort of buggered, I did fairly well in 30.40 - my best for this course is 28something and I had a few walking breaks of around 10m. I felt great starting again after them.

I definitely could feel the effects of having had been sick; it was my cardio that held me back. The last 800m or so is my 'make or break' stretch, where it's a short intense uphill (50m), and then about 800m of slight downhill, but mainly flat running. That's my speed bit: it's the challenge. Get up the hill, power on, and then GO. And hold out - don't stop running fast once you get to the flat.
Tonight one of my favourite songs came on and I just went "GO, go hard, go all out" in my mind. And I did.

Good fun.
